RACE REPORTS
August 17, 2003
Last weekend, McAninch Motorsports took on the banks of Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas for the last time this season. The weekend before, Ryan took the 52 Machine to try several different set-ups in anticipation to pull off his strongest finish at Thunderhill this year. We had hoped that our luck had changed, but unfortunately for McAninch Motorsports, that was not the case. Ryan was set to race in the first Heat-3rd row-outside, but due to uncontrollable circumstances had mechanical problems that would not allow the 52 Machine to compete.
Now that McAninch Motorsports was unable to place, we would have to start the B-Feature from the back. There were 10 Late Models in our feature and only the top 4 would transfer to the main event. Ryan drove hard and maneuvered many groove combinations to bring the 52 Machine to the front and place 2nd in the feature.
In the A-Feature, Flyin' Ryan would have to start from the back and race hard to gain positions throughout the race. Ryan was hoping to finish in the top five, leaving McAninch Motorsports only 30 laps to accomplish the task. Ryan managed to bring the 52 Machine to 12th, half way through the race, the yellow flag came out. During the caution, Ryan found out that he had a flat on the right rear, and had to come back in the pits for a change. Now Ryan would have to start the race again from the back and try to regain lost ground. With only 15 laps remaining it still was anyone's race. Ryan finished strong in the A-Feature with 10th place, to put a good end to an all round bad night.
Race fans, we hope to see you in Hutchinson this weekend, August 23, 2003 for another great night of racing!!!!
