RACE REPORTS
July 19-20, 2002
McAninch Motorsports battled with tough competition from TORA in Muskogee, OK on July 19, 2002 and TORA vs. MLRA this past weekend in Coffeyville, OK on July 20.
Our first stop was the 1/2 mile oval track in Muskogee, OK. We had hoped the second time around at Muskogee Speedway would have made it easier to tame the beast, but luck was not in our favor. We ended the night with a fifth place finish in our heat race and the B feature.
The second night of racing was held at the 3/10 mile, semi-banked oval tack in South Coffeyville, OK. Mid-America Motor Speedway had about 35 late models in attendance ready to battle for the victory. We started in Heat 4-second row outside with many good drivers to overcome. We ended the race with a 6th place finish, which would put us in the B-Feature to qualify for the A.
In the B-Feature we started the race from back, with several cautions and hard driving, we tried to gain the lead from Hough, McDaniels, and Bolin, but they would only pull away, leaving us to settle for forth place finish. There were two B-Features and the top two would advance to the A-Feature. We were able to take a provisional qualifying for the main event.
In the A-Feature we started the race-the second to last row from the back. There were 24 late models in the race and many experienced drivers from the Midwest ready to rumble.
Ryan drove hard and tried many groove combinations to gain positions. There were several cautions and many restarts - that if you weren't ready, you would be left behind.
We took home a 14th place finish from Mid-America. Not bad, starting from almost dead last!!
McAninch Motorsports will be taking the next two weekends off to work and modify the 52 machine for the races on August 9, 2002 at Hutchinson Raceway Park and August 10, 2002 at Salina Speedway. Also race fans, we have moved up in TORA points to 5th place. We hope to see you in a couple of weeks!!!!
