RACE REPORTS

July 13, 2002

Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas would once again prove to be too hard to tame as we could only salvage and 11th place finish in the A-Feature. We kicked off the evening by drawing the very last pill in the tumbler. Starting last in the second heat race we moved our way to the 4th finishing position.

Our 4th place finishing position qualified us for a 7th row starting position in the A-Feature. The high groove would quickly take rubber and would make it very hard to pass. As the race went on we found ourselves jockeying for position. When the checkered flag dropped we would cross the line in 11th place.

This would be our first trip to Wakeeney Speedway. The night started off good with a front row starting position in the 3rd heat race.

At the start of the heat race we would quickly fall to second place behind Charlie Randolph. As the race progressed we tried every avenue to try to obtain the first position. Low on the track would prove to be the best way around the oval. In an attempt to make a pass on the high side coming out of turn two our right rear tire would fall off the track sending us into a spin. That spin relegated us to the pits because of suspension damage.

On the starting grid of the A-feature we would find ourselves 8th row outside. As the race commenced we would dice for position. The low groove quickly took rubber and the track locked down. The entire race was "follow the leader" as it was nearly impossible to pass. We would for the second time this weekend settle for an 11th Place finish.
