RACE REPORTS

June 8, 2002

Last weekend, McAninch Motorsports added another victory from Mid-America Motor Speedway in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma to the team's career highlights.

The night started out with a 2nd row starting position in the first heat race. In our heat race we could only manage a second place finish to 98A - James House. As the night progressed the low groove in the previous feature races would prove to be the fastest way around the track.

Our heat race finish put us in the 2nd row inside starting position for the feature event. The green flag dropped and after the 2nd lap we had fallen back to 4th place. Trailing 98A- James House, 32P-Bud Purkey, and 1R- Russel Portwood! All the competitors were trying different tactics from racing on the bottom to the top. We managed to pass Purkey and Portwood during the race, leaving us in 2nd place with a lot of track position between us and first place James House. With 7 laps remaining, the yellow flagged dropped, giving us the much needed track position. The green flag dropped and the battle was on; a pass on the high side with 3 laps to go would give us our 2nd win of the season.

This Saturday, June 15, 2002 our team will compete against the NCRA sanction body at 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kansas. We hope to see you there!!
