RACE REPORTS
June 22-23, 2002
It was another exciting weekend of racing for McAninch Motorsports, as we competed with TORA Late Models at the Hutchinson Raceway Park and Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas.
The first night of racing started in Hutchinson, Kansas at the Hutchinson Raceway Park. Our starting position for Heat 2 was first row-outside. As we battled to gain the first place position, Steve Kosiski pulled away and managed to take the victory for our heat, leaving us to settle for 2nd place.
In the A-Feature, we were going to start third row-outside, but 50B-Larry McDaniel who was going to start in front of us, fell to the back, moving us right up to second row-outside. The green flag dropped and driving became intense. The competition was fierce and lapped traffic became a battle. During the first twenty laps we could only maintain 5th place until the yellow flag was dropped. On the restart a spin in turn two caused us to stop on the track loosing us numerous position. We managed to make it back to 7th place.
The second night of racing was held at Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas.
We could only manage a 4th place in our heat race despite starting on the front row outside of out heat.
4th place in the heat put us in a position to run the B-feature. We lead half of the race until being overtaken by Kyle Berk. 2nd place in the B-feature would be our final finishing position.
We would start 18th on the starting grid for the A-feature. We would make it to the 9th place position where we would remain the rest of the night. All in all it was a good weekend notching 2 top10 finishes and coming away from the track learning a lot of valuable information.
Also, as of this past weekend, McAninch Motorsports moved from 8th place in point standing to 6th place. Our next TORA race will be in Salina, Kansas at the Salina Speedway on July 6, 2002.
