RACE REPORTS
June 20-22, 2003
This past weekend was an interesting one for McAninch Motorsports as many things went wrong. The first night of racing was at Hutchinson Raceway Park in Hutchinson, Kansas. We raced in the first heat and started in the back row. The start of the night looked good for the 52 Machine. In combination to a good race-setup and great start from the drop of the green flag, Ryan in only the first two corners over took the following three positions coming off turn two. As we entered into turn three only the unthinkable happened. Midway through turn three, Ryan entered the corner too high and fell of the track. The yellow flag had been thrown, and the 52 Machine had been pushed back on to the track but would not start. Back at the pits, it was determined that an engine problem would end the night for the McAninch Motorsports team.
On June 21 in Jetmore, Kansas, it looked as though our luck may have been back at our side. As the previous night was quickly ended with an undetectable engine problem the team headed back to the garage for a quick switch to a backup engine. Though this engine was not as strong as the primary, it would keep our hopes of a strong season points race alive. The night started with a better than average pill draw that placed us in the second row inside for the heat. With Ryan holding his own he maintained to finish third. That would capture 6th row inside starting position in the A-feature event. At the end of the 30 lap battle McAninch MotorSports took home an 11th place finish. The next day was a disappointment as we were able to hot lap but not continue the night due to extreme weather conditions in Belleville.
