RACE REPORTS
May 24-25, 2003
The first night of racing at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas looked promising for the McAninch Motorsports race team. A field of 32 Late Models in attendance showed up to compete for the first TORA Late Model win at Lakeside Speedway.
There were four heats for the TORA Late Models and we competed in the first heat of the night. The 52 Machine started on the pole in heat race one and pulled a marginal lead over the rest of the heat. To the McAninch Motorsports misfortune, the 52 Machine spun out coming out of turn 4 with only 2 laps remaining, giving Delbert Smith the opportunity to take first in our heat.
Ryan still had one more chance to qualify for the main event. In the B-Feature, Ryan tried many groove combinations and raced hard but could not pull a top four finish. We weren't out of the picture yet, as the team took its first provisional of the season to stay in the top points standing.
In the A-Feature, Ryan started in the very last row with many great drivers in front to overcome, but he was determined to regain the ground he lost. Ryan drove many groove combinations and was able to take home an 11th place finish out of 22.
The excitement continued as we headed to Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas Saturday night for another great night of racing. There were 5 heats for the TORA Late Models and we raced in heat 4 and the 52 Machine placed 2nd. The start of the A-Feature ended in tragic as the 52 Machine fell off the track in turn 1 and was unable to continue the race.
Our next TORA event will be held at Enid Motor Speedway in Enid, OK on June 7, 2003. We hope to see all our race fans for an exiting night of racing!!!
