RACE REPORTS
October 7, 2004
This last past weekend was crazy and exciting at the same time, as almost 70 late models competed for the
checker flag both Friday and Saturday night in Kansas City at Lakeside Speedway. The weekend events had a
rocky start as rain would cancel the race scheduled for Thursday, October 7, 2004, but would cooperate for
the next two nights. The shootout between MLRA, WDRL and TORA brought competition from all over the Midwest.
The 52 machine had stiff competition to race against in the heat to qualify for the main event. There were
seven 10 lap heats that raced for the checker flag, and in our heat Ryan would place fourth. During our B-Feature
Friday night with 5 laps in Ryan would have to return to the pits as he could not see out of his shield. Luck
has been one factor that has not played on McAninch Motorsports favor, but would not hold the 52 machine down
from competing Saturday night.
Saturday night was just as crazy as the first. The grandstand area was packed with race fans as every seat was
taken. The 52 machine was out of control Saturday night. During the first lap of hot laps you could tell the
52 machine was loose. Coming out of turn 3, Ryan lost control avoiding several late models ahead and spun out
hitting the wall in turn 4. This was only a minor set back for McAninch Motorsports as we would have to make
sure everything was good to go for our heat. They saved the best for last as we raced the last heat of the
night. With stiff competition in our heat, Ryan would have to pay extra attention to Steve Kosiski as would be
a top contender in our heat. Ryan raced hard throughout the race and tried many grove combinations from the
top to the bottom to gain ground. The top would prove to be the fastest for the 52 machine. McAninch
Motorsports would take home the third place finish. Only the top two contenders would transfer to the A-Feature. The 52 machine would have to qualify in the B-Feature to race in the main event. With over sixty late models in attendance the 12 lap B-Feature would prove to be tough. During the B-Feature Ryan battled for 2nd place throughout the race. Ryan lost the 2nd place position with only four laps remaining as he hit a rut coming out turn 3 causing him to lose ground. We came close to qualifying for the feature, but would have to settle for a 3rd place finish.
The last TORA race for the season will be the Thriller this Friday and Saturday night, October 22-23, 2004 in
Muskogee, Oklahoma at Outlaw Motor Speedway. This is one weekend you will want to mark on your calendar. See
you at the races in Muskogee!
