RACE REPORTS
August 21, 2004
After a hiatus of over a month the 52 team would again rejoin the TORA sanctioning body to compete at the high banks of Mayetta. The 52 team would draw the 17 pill that would give us a 2nd row inside starting position in the 4th and final heat race.
The heat race would start off with a spin in the 1st corner: this would eventually result in a front row inside starting position for the 52 team. With the drop of the green flag Ryan would jump out ahead of the pack but not for long as Greg Larson would make contact resulting in a lead change. But the 52 team would not relegate the lead without fighting back: in the closing laps Ryan would race the low groove pulling to the back bumper of Greg Larson. The end result would be a 2nd place finish in the heat race.
After the officials tabulated the starting grid the 52 machine would start 4th row outside in the main event. The feature would have many cautions and competitors would utilize multiple grooves. Ryan chose the low groove and it would prove to be the best line around the track; slowly but surely the 52 machine would progress through the field. When the checkered flag was waved Ryan would cross in 3rd place; behind Steve Kosiski and John Anderson. All in all, the team was pleased with the performance of our new engine and set-up.
